MedX Health Corporation

Mission Statement:  To develop and commercialize non-invasive, drug-free and cost-effective laser and light therapeutics and imaging systems that enhance the patient’s quality of life and improve their standard of care.

History & Overview
MedX Health Corporation was incorporated in 1999, and began selling laser and light devices in Canada from its facility in Ontario, Canada.  The Founder and CEO was Phil Passy.  In 2002, the MedX products received FDA approval and sales began in the US.  The primary markets for these products were in sports, rehab, and chiropractic medicine, to reduce pain and swelling and accelerate healing.  Between 2002 and 2008 MedX Health entered several new markets, including dental and acupuncture medicine, and began research on a product line designed to treat and monitor wounds, such as bed sores and diabetic foot ulcers.

The MedX Founder and CEO, Phil Passy passed away unexpectedly in February of 2008, following the completion of an IPO, just 10 days prior.  Shortly thereafter, The Board of Directors appointed Steve Guillen as President and CEO, leveraging Mr. Guillen’s extensive experience and proven track record in the health care industry, especially in the areas of sales and marketing and mergers and acquisitions.

Under Mr. Guillen’s leadership MedX began to explore other markets for their light products and acquired the Canadian rights to the RJ Laser line of products, which offered advances and features beyond the existing MedX product line.  New markets were added including veterinary, auricular acupuncture, and dermatology.  In early 2008, MedX Health also began to establish an international network of distributors and obtained the CE Mark for all of its products, opening the door to sales in the European Union.

In 2011, MedX Health announced the acquisition of the worldwide assets (Trademarks, IP, existing contracts, etc.) of an innovative skin imaging system called MoleMate™.  MoleMate and its related technologies are FDA approved and CE Marked, and are currently being sold in Australia, New Zealand, Poland, the United Kingdom, and the US.  MedX Health has licensed the use of a version of this technology for skin assessment to Proctor and Gamble for use in pharmacy and cosmetic point-of-sale counters to demonstrate to consumers the condition of their skin before and after the use of P&G skin products.  In June of 2011, MedX began the US launch of MoleMate with an initial national team of 40 sales representatives calling on physicians. MoleMate and its related technologies are used by physicians to help gather extra information about their patient’s suspicious moles and lesions, by imaging pigment, collagen, and blood directly under the mole or lesions.  For the first time, physicians will get clear, color images of these components via this ‘optical biopsy’, helping physicians and patients to come to a more informed decision about diagnosis and removal.

  2. Acupuncture is really a practice which is 2500 years old and improves the health of an individual. This Chinese remedy involves the use of needles on the body. The principle behind the therapy is that the body contains various channels or meridians by way of which energy flows continuously. Any blockage in these meridians can lead to pain or disorder within the corresponding part of the body. These meridians are also referred to as ‘Qi’. Wherever you will find perceived blockages inside the body, the needles are pricked on those particular points based on the issue. The needles would facilitate much better energy flow within the body and relieve pain.
